Local Open Workshop: Satellite image processing, recording and simulation systems for applied precision irrigation (D.C.2.3)

The Laboratory of Ecological Engineering and Technology of the Department of Environmental Engineering of the Democritus University of Thrace and the Geotechnical Chamber of Greece, branch of Eastern Macedonia, co-organized an online training Open Workshop on March 4th , 2022 on the topic of “Satellite image processing, recording and simulation systems for applied precision irrigation”. The seminar was organized in the context of the PONTOS project co-financed by the Cross-Border Cooperation Program for the Black Sea Basin.

The aim of the Workshop was to present to agronomists and other interested professionals and scientists the methodology of processing and analysis of satellite images of the Copernicus system for the systematic monitoring of agricultural crops as well as the modern systems for monitoring and simulation of soil and plant growth parameters, integrated in the general context of precision irrigation, aiming at saving agricultural water and energy. Moreover, the Workshop was an opportunity  to inform and engage a broad spectrum of social actors and an efficient way to test and improve communication and dissemination mechanisms.
